The selectors can be picky in their ways, as can be captains. But neither appreciates it when they are picked on.
Sikander Bhakt found out the hard way. Apparently irked by the former Pakistan fast bowler raising questions about selection policies within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Qadir who is the chief selector, found himself in a heated argument, admonishing Bhakt for the said statement. Pakistan have not done too well in the recent past and as they face off Sri Lanka at home in the Test series this time, there is definitely discomfort in the air.
Bhakt, rightly, pointed out that he is an independent man, open to express his free will. Old friends, new enemies?
Qadir’s name is once again cropping up in an alleged altercation with new Pakistan coach, Younis Khan. While Younis wanted more power in choosing the team for the Test series against Sri Lanka beginning tomorrow, Qadir and his selector mates viewed it as Younis wanting to have things his way.
But the PCB Chairman, Ejaz Butt, has gone on record rubbishing the rumours. Well, where there’s Pakistan cricket, how can smoke ever be far behind. Right?
