Lalit Modi may be claiming to make the cricketers rich. But can they be richer than him?
Modi has been giving interviews on television stating that IPL is most beneficial to the game even as many as screaming about too much cricket. But here is a good reason why.
There is no doubt - money rules the sport rather than the other way round. Mahendra Singh Dhoni may still be in competition with Sachin Tendulkar but Modi has out run them all, paying a whopping Rs. eight crore as advance tax already. To think he paid just Rs. 32 lakhs is simply astounding!
Dhoni has overtaken Tendulkar at the first half, paying Rs 2 crore as opposed to Tendulkar’s Rs. 1.5 crore, although Tendulkar paid Rs. 8 crore to Dhoni’s Rs. 4.6 crore the previous fiscal year.
What the cricket brigade has done is leave Bollywood behind. So, Shah Rukh Khan, Hritik Roshan, Salman Khan Aishwarya Rai, Akshay Kumar and company had better fight amongst themselves to rule the roost because cricket cannot be surpassed at the moment.
