Aus WI Fracas on Day 2 T 3: Benn Faces Punishment After On Field Clash with Johnson, Haddin
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Dec 17 2009

Sulieman Benn may end up facing the harshest punishment as the drama on the field turned sour as the day wore on on the second day of the third Test at the WACA in Perth.
The spinner was involved in an altercation with Australian fast bowler Mitchell Johnson and then, with wicket keeper Brad Haddin who was batting with Johnson at the time of the incident.
Benn appeared to come in Johnson’s way when trying to field the ball even as Johnson was taking a run. Irked by Benn’s aggressive approach to reach the ball, Haddin then completed a run to point his bat in warning to the bowler. The bowler retaliated by threatening to throw the ball back at the batsman even though the batsman was not really going for a run.
More fracas followed as Benn stood in indignation and the proximity did not appeal to Johnson who physically shoved Benn out of the way.
Now Benn faces a potential Level 2 charge after the match referee Chris Broad presented his report. Haddin and Johnson have also been charged with a level 1 offence but it will not carry a potential one Test match ban/suspension.
