Call it banter before game. But Chris Gayle will not claim to be unaware of Doug Bollinger after the first session at the Adelaide Oval.
Ahead of the second Test, the West Indies captain feigned ignorance about Doug Bollinger, deliberately or otherwise, asking “Who’s the other guy? Bollinger?”
While there is no doubt that Gayle has established himself on the international scene, Bollinger has been the player on the rise and to be totally unaware about the player in the days when sides are thoroughly briefed about opposition cricketers by studying video analysis, it is either plain arrogance or callousness in taking a young bowler lightly.
Either way, Gayle would not be saying the same thing after the first day’s play as Bollinger picked up two wickets, the second of which happened to be that of the West Indies captain!
