Aussies Grab the one they Missed
Bharat | Nov 6 2006

The Kangaroo’s had never reached here before, this was the only trophy that was missing from their pergola, but this time Punter and his men wouldn’t let go the opportunity...Again the same question, what does it take to beat Australia and especially when it comes down to the finals? They have an amazing 21-2 win-loss record in the finals of the ODI’s since the 1999 World Cup.

West Indies surely a great one-day side (though their ranking may suggest otherwise), but rightly caped as the most vulnerable squad. They proved it again!! After been provided a rollicking start by the openers Chanderpaul and Chris Gayle the Caribbean’s failed to capitalize and tumbled to a total that none would associate with a final. It was to be a battle between the WI batters and the AUS bowler, and unlike expected the bowlers won. Caribbean’s had played great cricket in all the key games, and had looked a resurgent unit but this sudden collapses have become a routine for them.

Nothing is better to sum up the game for the Windies except the November rain in Mumbai, which is almost unlikely as an Australian defeat. The Aussies are beyond doubt the most dominating team in Modern Day Cricket, what makes them a special unit is their ability to dig themselves out of any ditch they may be in.

It was an emphatic win for them and their expression said it all, Ponting is one man who can stop his emotions from overflowing, his face depicted it absolutely what the trophy meant to them.
