This is not the view of the author of this view. This is the opinion being voiced by all and sundry in the media in the aftermath of the devastating loss that Australia were subjected to by South Africa as the visitors successfully chased down 414.
The loss to South Africa in Perth has not gone down well with people and the opinions are only getting vociferously as Australia attempt to gain some respectability for the Boxing Day Test. The Australian team has been dubbed “arrogant” and some of their players “overrated” in light of what happened in India during the Border Gavaskar Trophy and now against South Africa.
The overwhelming views across the world spanning England as well was that Australia did not care to pull up their socks because they were too arrogant to see their own downfall and in the erroneous belief that reputation alone was enough get them through.
That notion though was shattered in India and now once again highlighted even harder against South Africa who Australia presumed would be slightly easier pickings than India. That is clearly not the case.
