
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has awarded a Grade C contract to Mumbai opener Wasim Jaffer. The contract is a reorganization of his excellent batting performance in the Test series against West Indies.
Right now, Jaffer is ensured to retainership fee under the contract. Announcing this, BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah stated that the Mumbai opener being appeared in the five test matches during the period of players’ contract would be entitled for retainership on prorate basis from June 15 until the end of September 2006.
The Right-handed batsman scored 372 runs from seven innings at an average of 53.14 in the just concluded four-match test series in Caribbean that India won 1-0. Off these seven innings, his high-scoring century at Antigua was a glorious record for Indian Cricket.
