Brett Lee Nows a News Anchor in Hindi?
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Oct 29 2009

Not quite. But that Brett Lee has a passion for the country cannot be denied or argued. It may have partly cost him his marriage to Liz Kemp but it has brought him closer to Indian homes and more precisely, living rooms, dare we say, bed rooms.
(Chill, people do have television in bed rooms!)
On a more serious note, the Australian fast bowler has been signed on as brand ambassador for a Hindi news channel, P 7 News, by Pearl Broadcasting Corporation.
The move is deliberate in that Lee is here in India as part of the Australian squad for the seven ODI India Australia series. However, Lee managed to play only the first game, ruled out by injury in the second in Nagpur and uncertain for the third ODI.
The deal is also a prospective one given that Lee enjoys enormous adoration in India, especially amongst his female fans and his crooning and guitar accompaniments have not gone unnoticed either.
Lee’s divorce with Liz Kemp was also partly attributed to his overseas commitment as part of the Australian cricket team and also, his affiliation with India for which he spends considerable time as well. The last time he came to India for the Border Gavaskar Trophy Test series last year, Lee was a frustrated individual whose marriage had fallen apart.
Lee had this to say of his tie up with the Hindi news channel, “It is a privilege to be associated with P 7 News Channel as their brand ambassador. We share a common passion which is cricket. The channel is bringing cricket to the homes of every Indian cricket fan. I am glad to be the medium of reaching out to the cricket crazy fans of India to promote the cricketing season on P 7 News Channel.”
