John Buchanan has a funny way of showing he cares, or doesn’t. Now he becomes the latest Australian to release a book and not surprisingly it has very little respect for the Indian cricketers.
The former Australian coach struggled to convince the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team of his ambitious experimentations. He even had Sourav Ganguly bumped off the captaincy role. However, the plan boomeranged, KKR found themselves languishing in IPL 2 in South Africa, calling it curtains for the coach.
Now Buchanan has slammed Indian cricketers in his latest book “The Future of Cricket: the Rise of Twenty20” wherein he states that Sourav Ganguly, although does not fit the Twenty20 version of the game, has charisma and dignity.
But it appears Buchanan is only using Sourav’s shoulder to fire a salvo at the brash Yuvraj Singh. In Buchanan’s opinion, Yuvraj wants to represent the new young, combative India but has failed to replicate the genuineness that belongs to Ganguly. He believes Yuvraj Singh lacks both, charisma and the dignity with which Ganguly handles himself.
Was it Ganguly he was praising or Yuvraj he was putting down? Hard to tell.
