John Buchanan may have received any early termination from the KKR team but he has not come to terms with it. In a candid interview, he also took a dig at Shane Warne and his attention seeking personality.
The former Australian coach was dismissed from the position as head of the Kolkata Knight Riders team in the IPL after KKR performed badly in the IPL 2 in South Africa.
Initially reigned in for a five year term, Buchanan expressed disappointment at being booted out early into the Twenty20 outing. He believed that the team was onto something and getting there but that Shah Rukh Khan, whom he called the King of Bollywood, apparently changed his mind about Buchanan. (Perhaps it had something to do with the backlash in Kolkata).
Buchanan compounded matters with his multiple captain theory and by also blasting Sourav Ganguly in public stating he was not good for the game and was holding the team back as icon player and captain of the team. Unfortunately New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum had a tough time as captain as the team simply forgot how to win.
Now muscled out by forces that be, Buchanan is clearly unhappy.
Buchanan was also acerbic about Shane Warne constantly digging into the former’s coaching techniques stating that Warne had a mind of his own, was constantly looking to grab attention and be the centre focus and he would do whatever to get there, unlike Buchanan, who is not willing to take up a permanent coaching position and thereby, betray past loyalties.
