Chappell Seeks Patience for Aussie Comeback
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Jan 2 2009

While one former coach is demanding a “systemic overhaul”, another is exhorting for patience from the public in order to the Australian team to reach its heady stage again!
Greg Chappell, now former infamous coach of the Indian team and present during the Border Gavaskar Trophy in India, in a consultancy position with the Australian team got to see first hand the real signs of slip ups from the Australian team. Now in the aftermath of a home series loss after sixteen years, Greg Chappell is calling for patience as the younger players are now forced to breathe the air of international pressure.
Chappell stated that there was always going to be a time when Australia’s dominating hold over the world would end but that people ought to be patient given that perhaps, in his opinion, Australia saw half a dozen of perhaps their best ever players to represent the country. Replacing them with young ones would require giving them exposure and understanding.

Wonder if one should warn Australia given that Chappell is now the head coach at the Centre for Excellence in Australia. Hope his stint with Australia is a lot more fruitful than it was with India!
