The first Super Eights match of the Champions League Twenty20 did not go down well for the Royal Challengers Bangalore who lost to the Victoria Bushrangers courtesy Andrew MacDonald.
MacDonald was picked to play the final Test in Australia against South Africa for his all rounder abilities. On the night, he showed why he can be such an impactful player, curbing the RCB team and then, allowing his team to virtually roll them over.
MacDonald picked up four wickets for just twenty-one runs after Bangalore got off to a flying start. Manish Pandey made thirty-nine runs replacing the injured Jacques Kallis while Rahul Dravid made thirty-three runs and yet RCB suffered a dramatic collapse thereafter to end up on a paltry 127 for six.
David Hussey’s final flourish of thirty-one runs finished it off nice for the Bushrangers who finished their innings with four overs to spare. But the match was set up nicely with Rob Quiney’s twenty-nine runs followed by useful contributions from Aiden Blizzard and Brad Hodge.
Royal Challengers Bangalore now have to beat the Delhi Daredevils on Diwali day before they can even dream of the CL T20 semi finals.
