That is what Cricket Australia is fearing after the spectator incident in Perth had Pakistan’s Khalid Latif feeling the impact.
Cricket Australia is hoping the ICC will not strip the WACA of the hosting status over the incident during the fifth ODI between Pakistan and Australia when a drunk Australian spectator sprang a surprise.
One of the most memorable spectator tackle was when Andrew Symonds jabbed his arm out and brought up a stray, streaking spectator. But this one has been a gross violation of security of the cricketers and that too in an international match, which has CA worried.
CA does not want to bring about crowd regulation tactics of limiting alcohol intake or of having netting/barb wire to prevent the spectators from spilling on the ground. They would rather want to raise the penalty which they hope will prove a deterrent.
Recently the ICC raised a one year ban on the Ferozeshah Kotla Stadium in New Delhi over sub standard pitch during the fifth ODI between India and Sri Lanka and CA is hoping there will not be a repeat of such a situation.
