CT Aus v WI Full Time: West Indies Nearly Run Australia Out
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Sep 26 2009

West Indies did manage to grab some of the attention from the India v Pakistan clash at Centurion. However, Wanderers/Johannesburg crowds were not disappointed as West Indies nearly had Australia running for cover.
Half centuries from Andre Fletcher and Travis Dowlin kept West Indies in a position not unlike Australia although perhaps what their innings needed was one individual who could play half the innings that Mitchell Johnson played. West Indies were in it until perhaps the fortieth over but they had lost five wickets at that stage and the final slog overs could not yield the runs they wanted to push this match into one of shock defeat.

Still Australia had to sweat it out for this win and it does not bode well for their bowlers who must now face up against India and Pakistan in forthcoming matches. Australia will sigh with relief after winning their first Group A match of the ICC Champions Trophy by exactly fifty runs as West Indies folded their innings on 225 in the forty-seventh over. Perhaps three slog overs could have done the trick.
