The New South Wales Blues have shown their dominance in the Champions League Twenty20 with a win over the Sussex Sharks to qualify for the Super Eights.
The Simon Katich led NSW Blues beat Sussex comprehensively in a low scoring match to qualify for the next stage of the tournament. The Sharks were missing key personnel including Michael Yardy who took ill, Murray Goodwin amongst others.
Phil Hughes’ sixty-four ball sixty-two runs proved to be the decisive innings of the match followed up by another outstanding effort from Moises Henriques who made a half century from thirty-three balls.
NSW’s 130 runs in Delhi was not a big target but on a pitch that most batsmen thought unpredictable, the Sussex team caved in as Henriques turned in another extraordinary effort on the day, this time with the ball picking three wickets as Sussex never gained momentum and succumbed to ninety-five for eight in their alloted twenty overs. Another Australian win over England?
