The Indian captain is furious over Ian Chappell’s comments over India’s no.1 status. And the Sri Lankan captain has jumped in to defend him.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni did not take kindly to the remarks of the former Australian captain that India did not have the bowling reserves to retain their top rankings in the ICC Test rankings.
Dhoni called it a harsh judgement and a unfair one because in his opinion, all bowlers, like batsmen, can have bad days and it does not mean that the team lacks anything. While India did have depth in batting, Dhoni felt India had the firepower in the bowling attack to prove the critics wrong.
The Sri Lankan captain, Kumar Sangakkara, also defended the Indian team stating that India did not lack anything. They had Sreesanth who could bowl reverse swing, a good fast bowler in Zaheer Khan and a world class bowler in off spinner, Harbhajan Singh.
