Yes, our talented, young Indian Skipper, who is leading the team against One Day International Series against SriLanka, was candid and frank enough to admit that to beat Srilanka in SriLanka is tough.
He admitted that though the climatic conditions in SriLanka and India were nearly the same, the pitches in SriLanka perform differently, and much depends on which team wins the toss.
As for the new sensation talented spinner Ajantha Mendis of the Sri Lankan team, he was unperturbed on facing him. He is very confident that as the team had faced the spinner in ODI’s where they have performed well, so there was little reason to doubt the ability of the team to do so again in Sri Lanka.
Dhoni confessed that he is missing Harbhajan, the senior fiery spinner but at the same time proving he was a good impartial captain, he was of the opinion that the new, young spinner,Pragyan Ojha and Ravindra Jadeja would be getting an opportunity to showcase their talent.
But the best confession was not regarding cricket, it was the language which is problematic for the captain. He admitted that understanding the accent of the foreigners was very difficult. He frankly admitted that if in a party especially in Australia or England, the accented English is so difficult to comprehend that many a times he answered it with a smile and “Yeah, Yeah” and than tried to move away.
Dhoni had to face the language problem in Chennai also when he played for Chennai Super Kings in IPL. Naturally people out there wanted him to learn and speak Tamil. So Dhoni learnt a few words of Tamil in a month and started conversing with the locals, naturally endearing himself.
