Eng SA ODI 2 Full Time: Collingwood Century, Partnerships Seal Deal For England

South Africa’s contrasting struggles were highlighted by the ease with which England chased down the 250 target in Centurion in the second ODI of England’s tour of South Africa.
England sprang the surprise that the South African coach, Mickey Arthur, wanted in the Twenty20 matches. Jonathan Trott opened the batting with the England captain, Andrew Strauss, but forged a century partnership with Paul Collingwood that drove the nails into the coffin for South Africa.
The hosts struggled to get going, hiccuping with wickets at regular intervals and not being able to score to potential. But they were given a lesson by the visitors and Trott, who scored eighty-seven runs, featured in a 162 run partnership with Collingwood.
By the time Trott was sent off, England were comfortably placed at 207 for three with eight and a half over still remaining. Collingwood steered England to a comprehensive victory by seven wickets not only with his own century but also, in an emphatic unbeaten forty-five run partnership with Eoin Morgan, leaving South Africa scratching their heads for want of better plan and even better execution.
