The England team virtually picked themselves as they played the warm up match against Warwickshire. The only exception - another Ashes man bites the dust as Steve Harmison makes room for Graham Onions.
The England team, led by Andrew Strauss reads as follows:
Alastair Cook, Ravi Bopara, Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood, Ian Bell, Matt Prior, Andrew Flintoff, Stuart Broad, Graeme Swann, James Anderson, Graham Onions, Monty Panesar
Harmison obviously found it difficult to convince the selectors despite his six wicket performance against the Australian team playing for the England Lions.
It is now upto Onions, who played the home series against the West Indies, to beat Monty Panesar to join the bowling line up for the first Test at Cardiff on the 8th of July.
Strauss though has other worries on his mind, including the fact that Cardiff will be an unknown quantity for England as much as Australia and the home advantage is something Strauss was hoping to home in on. All he can now expect it for a raucous England crowd to turn up, the Barmy Army in numbers, to give the Australia a real ‘away’ feeling.
