For the welfare and good of the Indian cricket team, Coach Greg Chappell is about to end his differences with Sourav Ganguly. He admitted that the former captain has lot to contribute to the game as a batsman, he has really come back even more determined and would excel than ever before.
Considering the hurt of the past few days when the team was not doing well, Chappell showed willingness to change strategies for better results.
He freely spoke about his observations on the Bengal Batsman, without mentioning Ganguly. Chappell told reporters:
It was never personal with Sourav Ganguly on my part, perhaps Ganguly needed that time to be more focused and come back. The team had to take the decision collectively for better results.
Same is the case with Zaheer Khan, as he also carries a lot of talent for the game. I always thought Sourav had a lot to offer as a batsman but in Zimbabwe last year perhaps the captaincy was not allowing him the mental space.
Regarding the performance and knocks from Ganguly, the Aussie really admired the former captain for his mental application in the middle.
He added:
He always had a strong will, a very strong desire to represent India in Tests and certainly from a mental perspective, it was a very good effort on his part.
After a wonderful knock at the Wanderers by the former captain in the first test against South Africa, Greg is expecting much than ever before from the Bengal Tiger. Coach’s hopes are rising high and he is trying to put more talent in the team. May these positive thoughts from coach show better results from the teams perspective as well. Ganguly should focus more on the game and should continue with the same mental application.
