England’s two all rounders are experiencing diametrically opposite feelings going into the third Test at Edgbaston.
Andrew Flintoff has been described as being the force behind England breaking the jinx at Lord’s in the second Test. Players have spoken about how Flintoff rallied the team on the final and fifth day and asked them to maintain cool heads and hold their nerve in the match that gave England the 1-0 lead.
Flintoff has brushed aside his injuries stating that when he was fired up, the injuries took a backseat and that he was willing to give it his all in the Ashes, which will be his final Test series for England.
Kevin Pietersen though has spoken out about how he is feeling now that he is going to miss all the Ashes action because of Achilles tendon. Sidelining the physical pain, KP is mentally tortured about not being able to be a contributing factor to the team as he will now sit on the sidelines, wait to recover before he can target another forthcoming tournament, perhaps the ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa.
