Flintoff’s World T2 Absence: IPL to Blame?
Sreelata Yellamrazu | May 28 2009

The dreaded matter has arrived. The injury prone Andrew Flintoff, the richest player in IPL 2, suffered an injury that now puts him out of the ICC World Twenty2 in England.
Andrew Flintoff has missed much of the West Indies tour. Yet he bagged the highest pay cheque for the IPL in both seasons, along with Kevin Pietersen who logged a whopping 1.55 million dollars. Flintoff turned up to play for the Chennai Super Kings but suffered a knee injury, for which he underwent surgery.
However, Flintoff managed to put to rest doubts about his playing in the IPL 2 but will now definitely not participate in the ICC World Twenty2 in the UK. This is the second edition of the ICC’s prestigious tournament that team India won last time in South Africa. However, Flintoff will play no part in England’s fortunes.
Instead England have appealed to the ICC to include Adil Rashid in place of Flintoff as the latter begins his rehabilitation in order to be fit for the Ashes.
