
Gautam Gambhir will not be playing the third Test against Sri Lanka. But he was the star of the the CEAT Cricket Rating International Awards 2009 as was Mallika Sherawat over the weekend.
Gambhir walked away with the International Cricketer of the Year Award as well as the International Test batsman of the year to mark the prolific run he has had. Mitchell Johnson was named the Test bowler of the year while Ajantha Mendis was named the ODI bowler of the year. Gambhir’s opening partner, Virender Sehwag, bagged the ODI Cricketer of the Year award.
Special award was given to Thilan Samaraweera for the Spirit of Cricket Award after having played in splendid fashion following his terror wounds from Lahore in March this year. Erapalli Prasanna was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.
It saw the Indian and Sri Lankan cricketers come out in support of the event as well as some moves from Bollywood actress, Mallika Sherawat amongst the star highlights.
