The greatest rush of confidence for the South African team in preparation to face the Australians in a fortnight’s comes from one of their own greats, Graeme Pollock.
The former left handed batsman for South Africa, considered second only to the late great Sir Don Bradman in skills, efficiency, not to mention batting statistics, has sounded off that he thinks this South African side has it in them to push for glory against Australia come 17th December. With the batting line up in prolific form with the likes of skipper Graeme Smith himself, Hashim Amla and Neil McKenzie, he reckons, South Africa have the wherewithal to cope with the hostile conditions and bowlers down under.
Graeme, the uncle of Shaun Pollock and brother of Peter Pollock, has singled out the factor that puts Australia in a difficult position. He believes that with Shane Warne now absent from the picture, Australia will fail to get the stranglehold on their fellow southern hemisphere rivals. He has gone to state that he believes that Australia have been on their “lowest ebb for a long time” and that South Africa possessed the team that could beat Australia, going into the series undefeated in nine Test series since December 2006.
