Sourav Ganguly back in Indian squad
Bharat | Nov 30 2006

Inexperience has been blooming out of the present Indian squad of late and India’s most successful captain Sourav Ganguly has been brought back in the squad to apply the much needed balm. Also, the very-very special Laxman too has joined the force as the new vice captain. One thing that tinges my mind is: why keep a player as good as Laxman out of the Test squad for such a long period and then get him back as the vice captain of the team. Staying out of the international arena will advertently mar the ability of the player and over it the burden of vice captaincy would do him no good - I hope the selectors don’t nudge him out of the squad if he underperforms.

Our beloved dada (no hard feelings, this is his final chance) slams a ton in the Dulip Trophy match and makes a resounding comeback into the squad: courtesy experience. What about players like Ambati, Rayudu, Robin Utappa and Shikhar Dhawan who have been knocking on the doors of the selection committee since eternity?

God bless the Indian selection committee and its players, if this kind of inconsistency prevails, shortly the Indian performance stats will close in on the Zimbabwean record - irrespective of what you people feel, I will surely stick with this notion.
