Huma Wasim Akram, deceased wife of former Pakistan captain, Wasim Akram, was laid to rest in Lahore with an outpouring of grief from several of Akram’s mates.
Huma Akram was said to have died of a heart attack following complications that involved her being admitted to Apollo Hospital in Chennai en route to Singapore via an air ambulance.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman, Ejaz Butt, issued a statement to the effect, “We are with Wasim and his family at this hour of need and pray to God to give them strength to bear this irreparable loss.”
Akram’s two sons, Taimur and Akbar, was staying with Huma’s parents, Huma’s father being Humayun Mufti. The children were naturally heartbroken as the grief stricken turn of events and will now have to adjust to a life without Huma, who was also a well known psychologist and hypnotherapist.
Said to be Akram’s pillar of strength, Huma was praised lavishly by his former team mates with Inzamam ul Haq telling the media people that his condolences were with Akram at this most difficult time.
