ICL's Matchfixing Slant Gets Murkier with Withholding Pak Pay Cheques
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Sep 8 2009

The ICL has taken the match fixing a step even more seriously by withholding the payments to the Pakistan cricketers associated with the league.
The Indian Cricket League’s cup of woes is brimming over. Now the match fixing allegations have taken a new twist with the Pakistan cricketers not being paid their dues (it is another matters that even other cricketers are complaining of similar treatment) working on reports that a “former Pakistan captain” has been involved in the scandal.
Fingers are pointing at the Lahore Badshahs team that comprised the Pakistan contingent which even reached the finals again Hyderabad Heroes. But there are now reports claiming that even the finals were fixed in that the Badshahs deliberately lost the second final to set up a third.

ICL battled match fixing reports earlier and it was rumoured that betting, not injury, was the reason for the suspension of Chris Cairns of New Zealand and Dinesh Mongia of India who featured for the Chandigarh Lions.
Earlier Inzamam ul Haq, who lined himself up with the Lahore Badshahs, had asked for action to be taken against those alleging match fixing with the present Pakistan team over their defeats against Sri Lanka on their recent tour to the Emerald Isles.
Meanwhile, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is interested in hosting a India-Pakistan series, although without the thaw in relations, it is hard to imagine that India will conceded to meet Pakistan on neutral ground, except perhaps in the mandatory meet in the forthcoming 2009 ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa.
