Imran Khan Demands Cricket Cleansing In Pakistan

Imran Khan is asking the political head of the country to sort out the mess that he feels Pakistan cricket is in.
Imran Khan was quoted as saying, “Our cricket is as much in a mess as the country. Our domestic cricket is incapable of polishing a talented youngster, so it needs an overhaul and we should do it quickly otherwise time will run out.”
Imran Khan was reacting to the change in captaincy from Shoaib Mallik to Younis Khan and the troubles surrounding the PCB’s troubled days where Geoff Lawson was fired from his coaching position, Naseem Ashraf resigned and Ijaz Butt appointed and also, the financial crisis hitting the PCB and Miandad quitting as Director General.
He stated that if Asif Ali Zardari, the President of Pakistan, was interested in Pakistan’s cricketing affairs, he must sort out the troubles through a system in place, “If Zardari really wants to help Pakistan cricket then he must allow it to be an institution. It should be constitution-based and have an elected chairman with elected representatives.”
But he was not in agreement with the President’s views on holding a round table conference, “Cricket is run on an ad hoc basis in the country, so the president is now suggesting a round-table conference without knowing that the previous regime of Nasim Ashraf wasted millions on such conferences to no avail.”
Also a cause for consternation for the former Pakistan captain, “”No way should the president of the country appoint the cricket chief. The president of Pakistan is patron of the cricket board and appoints its chairman, unlike in most countries where the chairman is elected.”
