Sreelata Yellamrazu | Oct 28 2009

The pressure is on Sachin Tendulkar. But it appears it is coming more from none more than Sunil Gavaskar.
Gavaskar, former Indian batting legend, has always expressed grand intentions for Sachin Tendulkar. And it comes as little surprise that he expected Tendulkar to reach the 17000 ODI run mark in ODIs at Nagpur during the second ODI of the seven match India Australia ODI series.
Tendulkar was is less than hundred runs away from achieving the phenomenal feat was given the impetus to achieve the mark by Gavaskar who exhorted that it be achieved in Nagpur.
However, Australia’s Peter Siddle ended Tendulkar’s reign on four but fortunately for India, Virender Sehwag was going great guns for India until the first ball of the eleventh over when Sehwag fell to a simple catch off Mitchell Johnson.
Yes, you read right - Mitchell Johnson. While Brett Lee failed to recover and James Hopes is in the docks, Ricky Ponting, the Australian captain, was a relieved man to have Johnson recover for the second match as India find themselves at 67 for two.
