Ind Aus ODI 6: Australia Complete Formalities, Corner Series Win Over Hapless India
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Nov 8 2009

Bowling nine bowlers did not help for Mahendra Singh Dhoni in Guwahati. But then neither did having six specialist batsmen and three handy men with the bat as Australia won the India Australia ODI series by 4-2 with the sixth ODI with one match to go.
Australia ended up chasing a modest target of 171 after team India suffered badly in the first ten overs, losing five top order batsmen to leave Ravindra Jadeja and Praveen Kumar the onerous task of giving India something to defend, which they did with aplomb.
But for an Australian team that has been in good form, 170 would have been tough to defend given that the conditions improved visibly as the day worn and knowing that they were chasing a modest target took considerable pressure off Australia.
They did lose Shaun Marsh early but Shane Watson and Australian captain, Ricky Ponting, kept inching India away from an unlikely win to stay alive in the series. Harbhajan Singh created a minor flutter, picking up Ponting for twenty-five and Watson for forty-nine, but that was all the hope India would have in the twenty-first over.
It was pretty much clinical from Australia with Cameron White, Michael Hussey and Adam Voges chipped in to give Australia a comfortable win by six wickets, reaching their target in the forty-second over and a series win for the visitors, the feats of Doug Bollinger and Mitchell Johnson not be forgotten.
