Ind SL Day 2: SL Innings Ends Disappointingly for 99-run Angelo Matthews
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Dec 3 2009

Angelo Matthews was keeping the home fires burning at the end of the first day of the third Test between India and Sri Lanka at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai.
Sri Lanka found hope after Tillekeratne Dilshan was dismissed for 109 by Harbhajan Singh. It came in the form of Matthews who is establishing himself as more of a batting all rounder. Those skills once again came to the fore at the end of an eventful first day’s play.
His ninety-nine runs kept Sri Lanka towards scoring a formidable first innings total. However, in a disappointing scenario for him personally and one that indirectly affected the team’s chances to surpass the 400 mark, Matthews was run out just one short of the 100 mark.
It was only a matter of time before the Sri Lankan innings folded thereafter with the score on 393.
