Ind SL T 3 Day 4 Stumps: Sri Lanka Extend Wait for India's Celebrations
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Dec 5 2009

What a day of contradictions!
The first session belonged to Sri Lanka simply because they fought their way to stay alive. The half hour before tea brought the game alive as India rattled Sri Lanka with four wickets to bring themselves close to victory.
Yet the final session was about grit from the Sri Lankans, although the Indians continued to toil in earnestness. Kumar Sangakkara, the Sri Lankan captain, led the way with a gutsy century in undoubtedly trying circumstances, having lost half his side.

India managed to taste just the one wicket success, that of Prasanna Jayawardene. India’s attempts to seal a win on day four itself ran dry after that sixth wicket as Nuwan Kulasekara kept his captain company as the latter remained unbeaten on 133, attempting to pull off the seemingly impossible as India’s patience has been stretched to the final day of the third Test at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai and the Test series.
