By beating Sri Lanka, India have become the no. 1 Test team in the world. They may not hold the title for long though, but victory like this in the third Test at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai always tastes sweet!
South Africa have been displaced at the top of the ICC rankings and they will have to do better than they did in the ODI series against England in the forthcoming Test series in order to take back the throne and title.
India will also have a tough time holding onto the no.1 tag because apart from the two Tests against Bangladesh, they do not have much going for them by way of Test fixtures either.
But that did not dampen the celebrations as visible in these pictures.
