IPL 2 Game 44: Chennai Suffer Lapse in Concentration, RCB Don’t
Sreelata Yellamrazu | May 15 2009

Chennai suffered a major lapse of doing the basics right. The RCB did not miss the opportunity to rub salt into the wounds at Kingsmead, Durban in IPL 2 season.
Matthew Hayden’s sixty went in vain. The brilliant start he provided from just thirty-eight balls could not be followed up with a more stellar innings as the Chennai team got into the flamboyant and injudicious mode. They paid a rather heavy price for it, losing all their wickets for just 129.
It took one solid partnership to tide over the Chennai’s target. Once again it was Ross Taylor at the forefront with Virat Kohli keeping him company. Taylor’s forty-six and Kohli’s thirty-eight showed what patience in the game could have done for Chennai, looking to make their way to the top.
The RCB innings may have been dragged a bit with the early blows by Albie Morkel, dismissing both openers, Robin Uthappa and Jacques Kallis. But it was obvious after Chennai’s paltry effort up front, there could only be one winner, if the other team used some commonsense. The RCB did.
