IPL Making Cricketers Lepers?
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Jan 30 2009

That is what former Australian cricketer Stuart Law has alleged after his ICL ties have forced him to lose out on a coaching position.
Stuart Law is the second player after Jason Gillespie to be denied a coaching job with the Centre of Excellence because of his continuing ties with the ICL, considered a rebel Twenty20 league because it is not recognized by the ICC.
While the ICC has put the ICL on its agenda for the forthcoming days, cricketers continue to face discrimination for their association. Stuart Law led Queensland to their four Sheffield Shield wins and yet feels alienated for his association for the Indian league. Apart from the fact that he continues to associate with the ICL, also his non availability for a few months would have gone against him and awarded the job to David Fitzgerald.
However, Law cannot fathom why the ICL affiliated players are being treated like social outcasts, “The International Cricket Council are trying to sort this out and the ICL is happy to talk but the IPL are making us lepers in the community.” Stating that he was done with playing domestic cricket since 2004 and at forty, was not really pushing for a place in the Australian team, Law failed to understand why such a big issue was being made of it.
