Modi Tweets: IPL With Pink Balls and Four Substitutes!
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Nov 11 2009

After Shashi Taroor’s Twitter feeds, it is time Lalit Modi turned on the heat.
The IPL Commissioner has apparently posted Twitter messages that allude to the IPL being open to experimentation.
What this basically translates to is the use of the pink ball, which is generally considered to last longer in terms of colour, unlike the usual white ball which gets dirty too fast and therefore, difficult to sight.
However, at the moment, judging by Modi’s comments, the pink ball will only be used in the warm up games prior to IPL 3.
Also, in the mix, is the idea of using four substitutes, that’s right - four, instead of the usual twelfth man.

Watch this space, perhaps there’s more.

Modi’s Twitter posts:

“Four fielding substitutes rather than 12th man”

“IPL teams to test pink ball in their practice matches and sessions in partnership with MCC”

Straight from the horse’s mouth...
