Shiv Sena clearly does not know the meaning of being patriotic or loyal towards anything. Perhaps Bal Thackeray and his followers should look into their own behaviour, destroying media offices in Mumbai and Pune, before teaching Sachin Tendulkar what it meaning to be a citizen and honest human being.
Bal Thackeray took Sachin Tendulkar to task for his secular comments about his own status as well as that of the city of Mumbai. However, Shiv Sena showed their ugly side, attacking the office of the IBN news services and injuring several people, not even sparing women.
Is this what Shiv Sena wanted Tendulkar to be proud of? Will the Marathi Manoos veer towards such political hooliganism where the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) mercilessly beat up people from North India and now the Shiv Sena members venting their frustration on the news channel, for criticizing their moves.
On the one hand, Tendulkar is bringing great pride and joy being an Indian and Maharashtrian and on the other hand, the people bearing the flag of the Marathi population showed why their words rang hollow just a few days back.The party must be brought to book, not just a few hooligans employed.
What a sad day even for non Marathi speaking Mumbaikars who feel for the destruction of values - Constitutional values whereby the Constitution of India allows for freedom of speech and freedom of movement.
Sachin Tendulkar did not have to respond to the comments. Shiv Sena was its own undoing.
