Johnson: Marriage, Aggression on His Mind
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Jun 28 2009

Mitchell Johnson must looked back at the last eight months and wonder how fast he has climbed the ranks of the Australia’s front line pace bowling. Now as he looks forward to Cardiff and the Ashes, Johnson is grateful for the career he has had.
Johnson could have well joined the army if his own words are anything to go by. Having friends who are serving the army and even been to places like war torn Iraq, Johnson believes that a camp with Dennis Lillee in Queensland gave him a new rebirth in the game as far as taking it to the international level is concerned.
He has not minced words, stating that he would be looking to bowl aggressive first up against the England team and disconcert them, including Kevin Pietersen, with short balls. He is perhaps taking after Glen McGrath’s tactics to gun for the best player in the opposition team as well as to take the game aggressively to the opposition.
Johnson has been performing incredibly well but it was Brett Lee’s injury and martial problems back home that forced Johnson to take on the role of the premier bowler in the side, which he now appears to relish. He even turned down the opportunity to play in the IPL when he could have made money to prepare himself for the Ashes and other international commitments for Australia such as the recently concluded ICC World Twenty20 in England.
Recently Johnson proposed to his karate champions girlfriend, Jessica Bratich, although it is unclear yet when the couple will tie the knot.
