Katich Feels for Dhoni
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Oct 4 2009

Simon Katich may not have experienced leading an international team yet, but he certainly feels for Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the aftermath of India’s debacle in the ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa.
Katich was tipped as Australia’s captain by an enraged Australian public after Ricky Ponting’s men lost the Ashes in England. However, Katich himself understands what Dhoni must be going through as the Indian captain.

Dubbing all matches in the ICC Champions Trophy as too tight to call, “cut throat” being his words, he feels what happened to India (India lost in the group stages as well and Dhoni decided to skip the LG ICC Awards function in Johannesburg), could have been any team’s story in South Africa.
That need not be a sad thing necessarily for cricket as a whole given that the ODIs needed a lift of spirits.
Incidentally while Katich is not in the Australian playing XI for the ODI team, he is a part of the New South Wales (NSW) Blues participating in the Champions League Twenty20.
