Kevin Pietersen’s despondency over having to forcibly give up the captaincy at the beginning of the year has given way to philosophy. He know believes that he inadvertently or not put the England team in a better shape to win the Ashes.
The former England captain says he is heartened by the cohesive atmosphere in the England dressing room and attributed it to the new England captain Andrew Strauss and England coach Andy Flower, against him he has reservations about during Peter Moores’ reign as the England coach.
He believes that while he was the captain, the constant tussles with Moores over strategy, the inclusion of key players like Michael Vaughan and the training processes did not allow a peaceful, happy atmosphere in the dressing room. The result was a difficult tour to India and the subsequent break out and fall out of the relationship between captain and coach that eventually led to the ousting of both.
KP now believes the England team is in a good frame of mind and that he genuinely believes they are in a better place from which to take up the subject of regaining the Ashes from the Australians.
