Sri Lanka pace sensation Lasith Malinga will play for English county Kent for three week after South Africa allrounder Andrew Hall opted out because of international commitment. Known for his unusual action in cricketing fraternity, Malinga in top form at the moment with wickets galore against Bangladesh recently.
Presence of Malinga will give Kent a decent chance to win the English domestic twenty-twenty cup, which is scheduled to take place this weekend. Kent will play Sussex in the semi final of twenty-twenty cup. Interestingly, Malinga is the fifth Sri Lankan to play county cricket this year. It is worth mentioning in this regard that Sanath Jayasuriya and Muttiah Muralitharan have both played for Lancashire this season, while wicket keeper Kumar Sangakkara is playing for Warwickshire and pace bowler Chaminda Vaas is playing for Middlesex.
In my opinion, three week county stint would help Malinga in enhancing his overall game. His fitness is bound to improve because of playing day in day out at tough English condition.
