Manohar: Modi Is Not Going Anywhere, Has No Rift with Srinivasan
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Dec 17 2009

The BCCI President, Shashank Manohar, chose to douse the flames over the possibility of Lalit Modi facing an early ouster as the IPL Chairman and Commissioner and denied that the BCCI Secretary, N. Srinivasan, or anyone else was planning the same.
Manohar denied that anyone, including himself, N. Srinivasan, or Farooq Abdulla, were planning to reduce Modi’s term with the BCCI and claimed it was the working of a “fertile mind”.
Manohar stated that Modi would complete his full term to 2012 and that there was no question of Modi being ousted before that.
As part of the IPL governing council meeting, it appears the attempt is to extinguish the feud made public when a letter from Modi was made public wherein he expressed his angst against the appointment of match observers during the India Australia ODI series, to N. Srinivasan.
Srinivasan also holds a strong position as one of the franchisee owners in the IPL, the Chennai Super Kings, of which he is a key part. During the Bangkok meet, Srinivasan is said to have expressed reservation about adding more IPL teams to the 2011 season as well as putting all players up for auction at the end of the three year term of IPL 3.
The power battles have been brewing in the BCCI den for some time with some feeling that Modi was cornering a fair share of the profits and gaining powerful influence by way of the IPL.
The BCCI also plans to crackdown on those officials who have got too close to the media to be sharing emails considered confidential without compunction.
