Even as the ICC promises to make this edition of the ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa memorable, former Australian opener and current Chennai Super Kings cricketer, Matthew Hayden, sees no need for it.
Hayden has slammed the much criticized ICC Champions Trophy stating that there was no need for another fifty overs limited cricket tournament when there was the World Cup every four years.
Instead Hayden, much like Shane Warne, has asked the ICC to call for a calendar when the IPL will have a window so that no international cricketer will have to choose between playing for his country or playing in the IPL.
In his opinion, the ICC World Twenty20 and the ICC World Cup were enough tournaments and that Test cricket could have a championship of its own whereby Australia would not have to play Bangladesh, in his opinion, and only compete amongst the top most countries.
Hayden, now a director on the Cricket Australia board, wants resounding changes to ensure that cricket follows a strict pattern, one that spectators can identify with, such as the fixed football calendar, clearly marking out the season.

After watching a couple of draws, some felt that 50-over format of the game is more interesting.. A little later, they felt that the 20-over format is even more interesting.
Probably, in a short time, there will be some who will say a 10-over game will be even more interesting and may be, this will lead to suggestions in future that a simple toss of coin can decide who is the champion.
Sorry Mr Hayden... I never expected this from a player like you..
