..Meanwhile the Women Grow in Strength
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Jun 26 2009

Even as the men’s team prepares to take on Australia in the forthcoming Ashes, the women’s team is not doing anything much different. But they have produced very different results.
The England women’s cricket team has done fantastically well over the last four months, winning both the World Cup in Sydney as well as the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in England.
For Charlotte Edwards, the captain, it was a crowning glory moment while for Claire Taylor, it was batting that could not be put in words.
England have not only had a strong foothold but also, appear to have run into the same opposition twice. New Zealand were only the finalists in the last Women’s World Cup and the way they were simply tamed into submission in the final, it was obvious that there could have only been one winner.
The gauntlet has been thrown to the men. The women clearly stole the show back home. It is now for the men to show they matter when it matters.
