Mini World Cup at stake: Aus or WI

The world Champions Australia will face the resurgent West Indies in a Champions Trophy finale at the Brabourne stadium today. This is 113th time that the two nations will meet for an ODI game. The Caribbean’s have a 57-51 game advantage over the Ausies, thanks to their performances in the 70’s & 80’s, and this time they look confident to give the Kangaroo’s a taste of their own medicine. They are the only side that hasn’t looked intimidated by the Australian strategy; they surpassed the Aussies in the group stage and will go into the final with that confidence.

The key for the game is the toss but it has not been a big factor here at the Champions Trophy this time, what will be decisive is the West Indies batting, if Chris Gayle can go out blazing the way he did against the Proteas and the others like Lara, Chanderpaul and Sarwan chip in then there’ll be nothing stopping the Caribbean’s, whereas the Australian will rely on their bowling trio McGrath, Lee and Bracken...in spite of the batting-depth they possess.

West Indies are the defending champions and Australia will be looking for their maiden Champions Trophy, the encounter promises to be a nail-biting finish...will Punter the just awarded ICC player of the year lead his side to victory, or will the Caribbean’s come out with something amazing, we will know it at the end of the, I have my fingers crossed hoping for an Windies Win.
