The IPL Chairman and Commissioner says the IPL 3 will not buckle to pressure from player bodies, including the FICA as well as players such as Ricky Ponting.
After reports of conflicts between the Australian captain and players such as Shane Warne and Adam Gilchrist, Lalit Modi sent out Twitter messages slamming the attempts of the player bodies for trying to relocate the IPL 3 and impose their own demands.
Modi’s words as they appeared:
“(I have) been told Ricky Ponting is pressuring players not to come. Maybe it’s due to the fact he was dropped from KKR,
” referring to the Kolkata Knight Riders parting ways with Ponting.
Further more, “We will not be dictated by players associations where to play. DLF IPL will be played in India.”
On player bodies, “I have been sent messages through various quarters to entertain FICA president Tim May. Unfortunately we do not recognise FICA or any agents.”
On sports events being staged fine in India, “South African players are touring India as we speak - security is fine for them now as provided by the Indian government. Australia tour India in October - will the Australian Cricketers’ Association dictate them not coming then? Doubt it.”
On players who choose to tow the line of FICA and stay away from honouring their IPL contracts, “We allow only four international players per team... few miss, no issues. We have great talent in each team. More opportunity for replacement to others. We have 98 players on the waiting list eager to get called in for replacement.”
