Mohd Yousuf tumbles the Ton's
Bharat | Nov 28 2006

Yousuf Youhana turned Mohammad Yousuf, from a shaven lad he transformed into a full grow bearded Muslim but one thing that remained the same is his immaculate batting, he has been on prime of his form over the year and that can well be made out from his stats. He has tumbled a record that was so grand standing for thirty long years that it always seemed unsurpassable - Mohammad Yousuf scored 102, his third consecutive Test century against the West Indies to become the first player ever to score eight hundred’s in a calendar year, in the processing surpassing the seven in a year record held jointly by the West Indian legend Viv Richards and former Sri Lankan skipper Aravinda de Silva.

The exhilarating form of Yousuf this year saw the right-hander score two centuries against India in the home series before smashing another three against England in the summer, continuing his prolific form against the Windies in the ongoing series. Yousuf now needs another 47 runs in the seconding innings to surpass another milestone held by Viv Richards of highest individual score in a calendar year. It is a great achievement for the Pakistan batsman whose third century against the West Indies was his fifth in five test, a mark South African All-rounder Jacques Kallis has equaled and only the greatest cricketer ever, Sir Don Bradman has bettered.
