More People Watched Me Practise, Says Boycott Lamenting Test crowds in South Africa
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Dec 27 2009

Sir Geoffrey Boycott never misses an opportunity to brag. But brag and lament on the same note was forthcoming from the former England opener and avidly followed commentator commenting on the crowds for Test cricket in South Africa.
Boycott was doing his commentary bit during the second day’s play of the second Test in Durban between England South Africa. Looking across the ground midway through the day, Boycott was appalled about the state of Test cricket.
Boycott started by stating that there were more people in Yorkshire to watch him practice than there have been people at the stadium to witness a Test match.
On a serious note, Boycott lamented on the fact that Test cricket was thriving in England to the point where it was practically affordable for the common man to take his family to see a Test match and he felt that a generation of cricket viewers was lost amongst the many muddles of the modern day.
Indeed a pitiable sight to watch stands empty, feels like a cardinal sin, while an enticing Test match is in the offing.
