Morgan: Ecstatic Over Test Results
Sreelata Yellamrazu | Jan 14 2009

The Test series between India and England in the aftermath of the terror strikes in Mumbai and the Australia- South Test series have greatly delighted ICC President David Morgan who now dreams of a Test revival.
David Morgan has called for all cricket related authorities to preserve and maintain the interest in Test cricket following enthralling Test matches in recent months that have seen India beating Australia in India, the rejuvenated series between India and England after the terror attacks in Mumbai and the sensational series that saw South Africa beating Australia in their own den, the latter tasting defeat in sixteen years!
Morgan’s own words reflect his renewed enthusiasm on keeping cricket’s oldest and arguably greatest version alive. “The whole Australia-South Africa series and a host of other matches around the world over the past few weeks and months are ample illustrations of the continuing value and relevance of Test cricket in the modern era,” Morgan said in a statement. For sustained drama, no format of any other sport can match it. The players clearly want and enjoy Test cricket. It is the yardstick by which they measure themselves against past and current players and the records will be there in years to come.”
It certainly has been a great ending to 2008 with some really scintillating Test match cricket, certainly renewing interest in the longer version to those on the periphery of cricket interests. One can only hope Test cricket in 2009 can be just as exciting.
