The much anticipated talk between the ICC and ICL came to naught as no amicable solution was arrived at after talks failed between the BCCI and the ICL as the insistence of the ICC.
While David Morgan, the ICC President, stated that the talks went off peacefully with the matter being revisited in April in a bid to resolve the issue, it is becoming apparent that the BCCI’s attempts to buy out the ICL/Zee of its venture altogether has not worked.
The ICL has in recent times threatened to take the dispute to court, under the clause of authorized, unofficial cricket. But the ICC has been determined to resolve this issue before it gets further out of hand. With the BCCI adamant to squash the ICL, the offer on the table was bound to have been rejected by the ICL vendors. Now the ICC has been able to meet but not resolve the issue effectively and now hopes rest on the April meet when once again the subject matter of the ICL sees another chapter to this saga.
Will Kapil Dev’s face value diminish and his role be thwarted once again?
